Below are our April events for Adults, Children, and Teens. Some events may require registration to ensure we have plenty of supplies for all attendees. If so, please call or visit the library to register for those events.
Adult Events:
Recipe Swap - Join us on Friday, April 3rd at 11am for Recipe Swap. This month's theme is Childhood Favorite. Drinks and table service will be provided. Don't forget to bring the recipe with you.
GetSetUp with Kathy @ the Library – Join Kathy to learn more about GetSetUp, the online learning community for adults 55+, during a weekly meetup. In April, join us every Monday at 10am for exercise and health topics.
Ukulele Association of Homer - Join Tom Kimble to practice your ukulele and share your enthusiasm for this unique instrument with the Ukulele Association of Homer on Thursday, April 9th and April 23rd from 5pm-7pm. You may bring your own ukulele or borrow one from us. An experienced ukulele player will be available to provide a lesson, if needed. All ages are welcome!
Healthy Eating for the Silver Years with Shari Gallup – Join Shari Gallup from the OSU Extension on Friday, April 10th at 11am to learn about healthy eating habits and wellness for seniors.
Crafting with Ann – Join us for Crafting with Ann on Tuesday, April 14th at 2pm to create a knotted cord bracelet. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required. Please call or visit us to register.
Brunch & A Movie – You’re invited to join us for Brunch & A Movie on Friday, April 17th from 10am-12pm. This month we’re screening Brave the Dark (2023). Please RSVP by Thursday, April 16th. Note: This movie is rated PG-13. Here is a summary of the film: Haunted by torturous childhood memories, Nate Williams finds himself engulfed in darkness. When drama teacher, Mr. Deen, bails him out of jail and takes him in, Nate must confront his past before it leads to his own destruction.
Community of Women - Join us for Community of Women on Tuesday, April 21st at 2pm for an informal gathering to share ideas, encourage, and support one another through life's challenges as we grow wiser (age) together. This month we are reading and discussing the chapters Solitude and Productivity from The Gift of Years by Joan Chrittister.
Book Club - Join us for Book Club on Friday, April 24th at 11am. This month's book is "James" by Percival Everett. Call or visit to reserve your copy of this retelling of a classic.
LCAP Meal & Y on the Fly - Join the Licking County Aging Partners and enjoy a nutritious meal at the Homer Public Library on the Friday, April 24th (the 4th Friday of every month)! Lunch will be provided by LCAP at 12pm, followed by Y on the Fly's fitness activity. To reserve a meal, please call the library at (740) 892-2020 or (740) 345-0821 Ext. 1218 at least 24 hours in advance.
Historical Society - Join the Homer Historical Society in the meeting room on Friday, April 24th at 2pm for a discussion of local history. Please bring any "show and tell" items that you would like to share.
Children’s Events:
April Story Time - Join Miss Shaunta for April Story Time for children birth to preschool on Wednesdays @ 10AM - April 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th. Note: Note: Story Time on April 1st. April 8th will be a Pajama Story Time, so please wear your pajamas!
Homer Homeschoolers - Join Miss Shaunta on Thursday, April 9th at 10am (and the 2nd Thursday each month) for our homeschool program, Homer Homeschoolers, for all ages. April’s theme is "All About Pollinators.” This unit study will feature a variety of learning activities. If you have any questions, please email Shaunta at scunningham@seolibraries.org.
Teen Events:
Teen Crafting - Join Lauren this month for Teen Crafting on Tuesday, April 14th at 5:30pm and create DIY Puzzle Piece Wall Art. Registration is required. Please call or visit the library to register.
Teen Movie & Pizza Night – On Thursday, April 16th from 5pm-7pm check out the classic sci-fi comedy, Men in Black (1997), with Lauren in honor of both Global Astronomy Month and National Humor Month. Pizza and drinks will be served. Please RSVP by 5pm on Wednesday, April 15th. Note: This movie is rated PG-13. Here is a summary of the film: James, an NYC cop, is hired by Agent K of a secret government agency that monitors extraterrestrial life on Earth. Together, they must recover an item that has been stolen by an intergalactic villain.

Teen Paint Night - Join Lauren for Teen Paint Night on Tuesday, April 21st at 5:30pm to create springtime beehive painting. Let your creativity Flow! Registration is required. Please visit or call the library to register.
